The SuperHID Electronic Ballast technology enables cost and
energy savings between 40%-65%, via proper lighting control and selection of
appropriate ballast/lamp wattage. The ballast has greater than 90% lumen
maintenance over the lamp life. For example, the SuperHID Ballast
exhibits less than 10% lumen degradation after 30,000 operating hours, which is
equivalent to greater than 90% lumen maintenance. However, a typical lamp
using the “old” magnetic ballast technology exhibits 50% lumen
degradation and decreased light intensity, after only
8,000 operating hours (lumen degradation is such, that a 400 watt lamp exhibits
the lumen intensity of a 200 watt lamp). The MicroStart digitally
controlled ignition (“soft” ignition method) virtually eliminates
the lamp electrode’s erosion, and the consequent “wall
blackening,” extending the effective life of a metal halide lamp by well
over 300%.
